The history, technique and materials of the Walser house have strongly influenced the type and architectural language of the project, which, in addition to the references of the centuries-old village, found in the old Walser traces on the mule track leading to the disused architecture of the mountain pastures, futher suggestions that have characterized the design process.
The building elements of the Alpine architecture are celebrated, using local materials and in the wake of the tradition of the Macugnaga house (stone and wood), but with choices of modern technologies that interpret in the Walser construction technique a practicality and typological truth that anticipates by centuries our way of doing and thinking in architecture.
Two types of project housing units: a detached house in a Chalet, and an apartment type in a three-storey building above ground. The chalet house dialogues between tradition and modernity with the Walser house type, responding however to the needs of contemporary mountain living. Located on two floors with open living area on the entrance floor above the street floor and sleeping area on the upper floor, it has as necessary services and accessories a spa area (with sauna / Turkish bath) and a local storage cellar (for the storage of bicycles, skis, wood, etc…), both accessible from the internal staircase and from the facing area Green property.
The apartments are located in two buildings with central access area and distribution on the various floors, are of varying size and type, from three-room apartments of 90 sqm with cellar and spa area, to 65 sqm two-room apartments, to the third floors with attic with two and three bedrooms with roof terrace. All areas of the apartments overlook private balconies or terraces. As usual, all types of homes have wooden interior finishes both as flooring and as cladding and are equipped with cast iron and majolica stoves and / or fireplace.
Storia, tecnica e materiali della casa Walser hanno fortemente condizionato tipo e linguaggio architettonico del progetto che, oltre ai riferimenti del secolare nucleo abitativo del Dorf, ha trovato nelle antiche tracce Walser su per le mulattiere che portano alle architetture in disuso degli alpeggi in quota, ulteriori suggestioni che hanno caratterizzato il processo progettuale. Si celebrano quindi gli elementi costruttivi delle architetture alpine, con materiali propri della regione e nel solco della tradizione della casa macugnaghese (pietra e legno), ma con scelte di moderne tecnologie che leggono nella tecnica della costruzione walser una praticità e verità tipologica che anticipa di secoli il nostro modo di fare e pensare in architettura. Due i tipi delle unità abitative di progetto: una casa indipendente a Chalet, e una tipologia ad appartamento in edificio di tre piani fuori terra. La casa chalet dialoga tra tradizione e modernità con il tipo della casa walser, rispondendo però alle esigenze dell’abitare in montagna contemporaneo. Disposta su due piani con zona giorno open al piano ingresso rialzato rispetto al piano strada e zona notte al piano superiore, ha come servizi necessari e accessori alla tipologia un’area spa (con predisposizione sauna/bagno turco) e un locale cantina deposito (per il ricovero di biciclette, sci, legna,etc…), entrambi accessibili dal scala interna e da prospettante area verde di proprietà. Gli appartamenti ubicati in due edifici con zona centrale di accesso e distribuzione ai vari piani, sono di taglio e tipologia variabile, dai trilocali di 90 mq con cantina e area spa, ai 65 mq bilo/trilocali, ai terzi piani con sottotetto a due e tre camere con terrazzino in copertura. Tutte la zone degli appartamenti hanno affacci su balconi o terrazzi privati. Come da tradizione tutte le tipologie di casa hanno finiture interne in legno sia come pavimentazione che come rivestimento e sono dotate di stufe in ghisa e maiolica e/o camino.
